Many USA brands manufacture in Pakistan, especially for sportswear, leatherwear and denim. Here is what to plan for when importing clothing.
1. Agree shipping terms
Decide on an Incoterm such as FOB or door-to-door (DDP) before ordering, so everyone knows who pays for freight, duties and delivery.
2. Choose air or sea freight
Air is faster and suits samples and small orders. Sea is cheaper for larger orders.
3. Prepare for customs
Imported garments are subject to customs duties, which depend on the product classification. A licensed customs broker can classify your garments and clear them.
4. Check labeling
Garments sold in the USA generally need fiber content, country of origin and care labels. Provide the label specifications and your manufacturer can sew them in. Always confirm requirements with a qualified advisor.
